Why I Built Harbor
This work is personal — for me and for my family.
About Harbor -- My Story

Some of my earliest memories come with music in the background — songs playing on my grandparents’ boat, in their homes, or on long drives with my family. Music was how we connected. When my boys were born, whatever song happened to be playing at that exact moment became their song. It wasn’t planned — it just felt right. Those songs still anchor me to the moments that matter most.
Harbor comes from that same place. Its name was inspired by Jimmy Buffett — the musician who shaped my childhood — and his song One Particular Harbor, about finding a place sheltered from the wind. A safe harbor. A steady point when life feels too loud.
For more than twenty years, I worked in the hospitality and events world — weddings, corporate events, high-pressure moments — where relationships weren’t just important, they were everything. My job was to help people through emotional, time-sensitive decisions, solve problems quickly, and keep things calm when the stakes were high. I built systems, created processes, and took pride in being the steady one people trusted. But over time, the company shifted. The relationship side got pushed out by numbers, speed, and transactions. Eventually, my role disappeared — not because I changed, but because the work had become something else entirely.

At the same time, my family was navigating senior care with my GG and my grandparents. I watched my mom go through the whole process with GG — finding her a new home, then finding another one as her needs changed. I saw the paperwork, the pressure, the timelines, the emotional weight, and the constant second-guessing. I remember thinking, “There has to be a better way for families to go through this.” And that stuck with me. Eventually it clicked: If I could take everything I’m good at — simplifying chaos, building systems, solving problems, and working with people — and bring it into a space where it actually helps families breathe again, maybe I could make this process easier for someone else.
That’s why Harbor exists. To be the steady, calm place families can turn when everything feels overwhelming. To take weight off your shoulders. To guide you through options clearly and honestly — without pressure. To give you back the space to focus on your loved one, not the stress. This work is personal. It’s grounded in compassion, clarity, and purpose.
When everything feels unsteady, let’s help your loved one find their safe harbor — a sheltered place where they can feel supported, comfortable, and at peace — sheltered from the wind.
